Conventional 1/2-integer extraction techniques (as always employed at Fermilab) are shown to be utterly inappropriate in the event of large tune spread in the beam. An alternative method is proposed in which a q0 (tune) quad circuit augments the conventional extraction elements. It is demonstrated that this approach can use the large tune spread to advantage - greatly improving extraction characteristics.
